I think of you when I first wake
And when I go to sleep
I tried to give you all my heart
Which you have failed to keep
When I hear love songs
It is you I think of
Jennifer Hudson’s, “My Heart”
India Arie’s, “Ready for Love”
My heart beats faster
And the butterflies come alive
When you show me affection
Even with a small hug from the side
I try to stay away
But you’re always in my situation
I think I’ve contracted a disease
I’ve been infected with infatuation
I think you’ve caught on
I think you know how I feel
I try so hard to hide them
But the feelings are too real
I wish you liked me
The way I like you
If you ever read this poem
It’s proof to show my feelings are true
I would never tell you in person
I’m too coy and too shy
But if you are ever ready for me
Know that, for you, so am I
